We are seeking a person to develop and upgrade specialised tracking systems to study the biology of ants. Our current system (DOI: 10.1126/science.1234316) has successfully advanced our understanding of evolutionary and behavioural biology. With the rapid improvement of technology, it is now possible to develop a new generation of tracking hardware and software to model disease outbreak, automatically detect behaviour, and manipulate social networks. Such research can have important implications for understanding our own human populations and dynamics.
